Photographing US Open Tennis


The first half covered tennis shooting in general, the latter half talked about the seating and lighting condition for US open.  So, feel free to skip that.  Best quote from the video:

    “If you see the ball in your viewfinder, you missed the shot.”

Even with a DSLR+OVF, one has to click earlier too since it’s such a fast sport.  I didn’t have a career like the speaker for 17 yrs, but, I was tired of the junior tennis shooting after 2 seasons last year.  All pictures looked the same.  This talk inspired me to take different pictures such as the player with the shadow, the return shots after the serve, the interaction between the double players, etc.
